‘Locavore’ Nibble & Sip is back!

fall-festivalIt’s finally back! We’re up and running with our first Nibble & Sip of the year and it has returned full force. Join us for our ‘Locavore’ Happy Hour at Browning’s at Slugger Field on Wednesday, Nov. 11 between 5:30 and 7:30 pm.

Groove to Butch Rice, be dazzled by Darshwood the Conjuror and enjoy special light bites and drinks that utilize locally sourced ingredients – featuring the fun of pumpkin as we celebrate fall. Show your support for all things local and the CFA.

Sliding scale cover ($5-10 suggested) and members get their first feature cocktail or mocktail free. Featuring Horseshoe Bend Wines, Effen Vodka and Maker’s Mark.

April Events Preview – Nibble & Sip and Supper Speakeasy

Spring has sprung in the Derby City and “the” season is upon us… you know, Derby Season? As we all know it’s an epoch all its own. The time for hats, the time to enjoy the blossoms (minus the sniffles and Ohio Valley allergies) and a time to come out from hibernation and start mingling again amongst the masses. So, socialize we will… won’t you join us?

This year’s Nibble & Sip happy hours are focused on bringing awareness to the Community Farm Alliance. The organization is statewide and strives to create opportunities both in communities and in the legislature that promote local farms and foods. It is my desire to spread the word, through social measures, for what I believe is a wonderful cause. I do hope you’ll join us and discover more about CFA for yourself.

When: Thursday, April 16, 2009  6:00-8:00pm
Where: The Roost Inn at Le Gallo Rosso Restaurant

What: Happy hour with food, drinks and live entertainment
Price: BVS Members – $15*; General Public – $20.00 advance/$25.00 at the door
Price includes food, 2 cocktails/mocktails, entertainment, tax AND gratuity

*BVS Members save and additional $5 for each guest they bring, though savings may not go over the cost of the event. Savings will be applied to this event only when calling to make your reservation.   • Lavender Lemon Bars (local eggs and flour)
  • Mini Chicken Caesar Salads in Wonton Cups (local chicken, cheese, and salad greens)
  • Smoked Salmon Mousse on Cucumber Rounds with Radish Garnish (locally smoked salmon)
  • Goat Cheese Crostini with Roasted Beet Tapenade (local cheese and beets)
  • Asparagus with Roasted Garlic Aioli (local asparagus)
  • Spring Peas and Mint Bruschetta

Chef Annette Saco is working diligently on our menu and I will be posting more details in the very near future. You can expect 6 courses, paired amazingly with wines by David Dubou of Vintner’s Select (he has a great track record with our events so far!), all enjoyed in a wonderfully unique environment. Chef @ Home – Jeff Jarfi

In a town like Louisville, we love our food, which in turn, means we love our chefs. I thought, “Wouldn’t it be great if we could get to know some of our favorites –  as well as some who seem to stay behind the scenes – and appreciate them in a very real way?” So, ‘Chefs @ Home’ was born and I am thrilled to have Chef Jeff Jarfi as our inaugural feature. Be sure to stop on by our next Nibble & Sip at Jarfi’s on Bardstown on Thursday, Aug 21, 6pm.  And if you haven;t checked out the bar at Jarfi’s yet, you really should. Moroccan Marinated Olives, Flatbread ans housemade chips adorn the bar to enjoy with your beverage of choice as well as a superb 1/2 price Sushi Mondays.  If you haven’t been yet, we’ve now given your three good reasons to stop by – what are you waiting for?

Favorite Meal at Home: Spaghetti with Moroccan Meatballs (ground beef, garlic, cilantro, cumin, paprika, olive oil mixed with egg yolk)
