Huge crowd on hand for Taste of Derby Festival

More than 1,000 hungry donors packed Slugger Field’s Hall of Fame Pavilion on April 22 for the Taste of Derby Festival. In its 23rd year, the annual fundraiser for Louisville’s Dare to Care food bank gathered more than 50 local restaurants and beverage providers who donated food and drink for the cause of feeding the area’s hungry. Join us as we indulge in some fantastic African beats and eats at Chez Seneba on Thursday, February 26. Kyene Drum Ensemble will be performing for us as we enjoy traditional Senegalese food prepared by Papis, chef at Chez Seneba. Hope to see you there for merriment and friendship of this tasty 360 cultural experience.

Food will be served buffet style and includes:

  • Neems: ground beef, shrimp, noodles in rice wrap
  • Fataya: beef or fish and tomatoes in a pastry shell (delicious!!)
  • Thiebu Jeun (Cheb-oo Jen): fish stew in a rich tomato base with vegetables
  • Thiebu Yap (Cheb-oo Yap): beef and stewed vegetables
  • Whole grilled fish
  • Sides: salad, rice, cous cous, athieke
  • Dessert: Thiackry
  • Beverages: traditional drinks including Bissap, Ataya and Ginger. Sodas and water also available. No alcoholic drinks will be served.

This politically charged dinner will offer two separate nights of Q&A, fabulous food, excellent wine and good people.

Primo Restaurant News

Exciting news from Primo at 445 E. Market in downtown Louisville. Bim Dietrich has teamed with Chef Nick Lynch and Chef Jeff McCracken to bring us a new menu at Primo. Jeff, most recently at the Seelbach, returns to Primo where he was originally the sous-chef. And Bim, pulling a couple of favorites from Allo Spiedo, has also added some more ‘meat & bones’ to the list with the addition of several delicious sounding beef, chicken and fish selections. In addition to a tasty and value oriented 2 course Executive prixfixe lunch menu, they’ve also added a special Wednesday Night Happy Hour, starting in August, which includes $5 wines, martinis and pizzas.
